There’s this commercial where kids are telling their parents to take a vacation and how it’s a shame to accumulate vacation time and do nothing with it. I can’t recall the product or company in the advertisement but the message was clear – take some time off from work and enjoy the life you are working to build. What good is life anyways if you don’t live it?
I remember like it was yesterday when I first started my practice (and years thereafter), I wouldn’t take off and would be afraid to leave town. Lol! I thought things would break down or I would lose out on an opportunity (i.e. money). And, I won’t mention having to do those time consuming “vacation notices” we are required to send out which sometimes are ignored and your case still ends up on the court’s docket. Shaking my head.
I’m thankful my entrepreneurial spirit has matured and I’m balancing work and play each day now. That’s growth which I’m proud of especially as I look out into these turquoise waters in reflection mode. Pauses – to take in another wave sound.
As you reflect on your 2014 and if you determine you have fallen short on some goals, don’t be hard on yourself but instead focus on the growth you have achieved no matter how little you think it is and build from that. I’ve learned that being a good steward of small things is a perquisite for the growth spurts.
Another New Year is just around the corner and as you contemplate on your resolutions, remember all you need is faith as small as a mustard seed to move mountains. Happy 2015! XOXO ~ Chante
