I’ll take a personal privilege here to share how we met. Glenda and I met more than 30 years ago in college. I had formed a bible study in my dorm room and she attended. I can’t recall the full discussion but it was something about Christians and “partying.” A very fitting subject on a college campus, right? I had the belief based on my church teachings at the time that it probably wasn’t a good idea. In fact, I vividly recall the time I was thinking about pledging DST, and shared my thoughts with one of my impressionable church members (you know the saved, sanctified and filled with the Holy Ghost type), who said “that’s of the devil.” In my spirit, I knew that didn’t make sense even as a babe in Christ. Plus, by God’s grace and study, I knew how to rightly divide the word of God for myself. So, you can imagine how I feel about all the dos and don’ts that we sometimes place on one another in the name of salvation. If I had one word to describe it, that would be bondage. Salvation is through Christ alone and not of our works. It is a gift from God. Goodness me oh my! I digress!
Glenda on the other hand, stated very kindly and with conviction about the subject, “my pastor said, if I’m in the club when Christ returns, I’ll be caught up too.” Here, two different views formed the beginning of an everlasting friendship.
